South Korea Cricket Team Guide
The South Korea cricket team represents South Korea in international cricket. Governed by the Korea Cricket Association, the team became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and an associate member in June 2017.
History of South Korea Cricket Team
South Korea’s first international appearance was in the ICC East Asia/Pacific 8s tournament in Perth in 2002. Since their first appearance they’ve competed against a number of international cricket teams. They finished fourth in a tournament that also included the Japan cricket team, Australian Aborigines team and Indonesia cricket team. The South Korea cricket team also participated in the 2011 East Asia Pacific tournament. A documentary titled “Bowling for Gold” aired in 2013, highlighting the team’s journey and struggles, including their participation in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. In 2016, South Korea won the inaugural East Asia Cup, defeating Japan in the final.

The South Korea cricket team has played matches at the purpose-built Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon. Additionally, they have competed at the Sano International Cricket Ground, with both venues seeing a number of visiting international cricket teams.

Kim Kyungsik served as the captain of the South Korea cricket team during the 2014 Asian Games. The team’s performance under his leadership included a victory against the China cricket team and a defeat against Sri Lanka national cricket team in the quarter-finals.
