Saint Helena National Cricket Team Guide

The Saint Helena national cricket team represents the small and remote British island of Saint Helena in international cricket. The team is organised by the St Helena Cricket Association, a member of the Africa Cricket Association (ACA). They joined the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 as an affiliate member and became an associate member in 2017.

History of Saint Helena National Cricket Team

Saint Helena’s cricket team first competed internationally in April 2012, playing against the Cameroon cricket team at the ICC Africa Division 3 T20 Tournament in South Africa to mark their debut. They also achieved victories against the Morocco cricket team, Gambia cricket team, and Mali cricket team, finishing fifth out of eight teams. The team’s journey to South Africa was notable, as they had to raise ÂŁ24,000 and make a five-day sea trip, since the island did not have an airport at that time. In 2018, they gained full Twenty20 International (T20I) status, allowing all their T20 matches against other ICC members to be recognised as official T20Is.
