The Croatia cricket team made its international debut at the 2000 ECC Representative Festival in Austria. Since then, they have regularly participated in the lower levels of European Cricket Council tournaments and other series against European sides. The Croatia cricket team became an affiliate member of the ICC in 2001 and was promoted to an associate member in 2017. In 2018, the ICC granted full Twenty20 International (T20I) status to all its members, allowing Croatia to play official T20I matches.
