The journey of the Germany women’s cricket team in international cricket began earnestly in 2011 when they finished as runners-up to the Jersey women’s cricket team in the European Women’s Cricket Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. The team’s significant milestone came in 2019 when the ICC granted all its members full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status, allowing the Germany women’s cricket team to play their first-ever WT20I match against the Scotland women’s cricket team on 26 June 2019. 

Despite facing challenges, the Germany women’s cricket team has shown resilience and growth, participating in the 2022 Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda, marking their presence more well known on the international stage.

One of the most memorable games for the Germany women’s cricket team was their first-ever WT20I match in 2019 against the Scotland women’s side, marking their debut in officially recognised international T20 cricket. Although this was a milestone match for the Golden Eagles, they were quickly bowled out for 37 runs, something which their opposition quickly matched with 84 balls remaining. Despite this, it still highlighted the nation’s progression on the international stage.

Another notable game for the Germany women’s cricket team was their first ever match against a full ICC member, with this seeing them face off against the Ireland women’s cricket team in August 2021.
