Memorable Games For The Jersey Cricket Team

The first ever T20I for the Jersey cricket team produced a thrilling tie that was decided by a super over. They visited Guernsey in May 2019 who were also making their T20I bow. Batting first the Jersey cricket team scored a modest 128 for 9 with the three players getting out in the twenties, Corey Bisson top scored with 26. A fine bowling performance from the visitors then reduced Guernsey to 92 for 7 with a little over three overs remaining but an excellent partnership by lower order batters David Hooper and Anthony Stokes took the game to its last ball. Stokes was run out before the winning run could be completed to take the match to a super over. Elliot Miles took 3 for 17 in the match for Jersey then was given the responsibility of bowling the super over in which he conceded 14 taking one wicket. Jonty Jenner chased the target down scoring all 15 runs in just five deliveries to give the Jersey cricket team victory on T20I debut.

The Jersey cricket team enjoyed a successful campaign in the European qualifiers for the 2023 T20 World Cup which took place in Almeria, Spain in October 2021. They won all six matches, winning the four team tournament to progress to the next stage. That 100% record came most under threat against the Denmark cricket team when they were bowled out for just 94 in 19.3 overs. It was only 32 from Benjamin Ward and 23 not out from just 9 balls from number ten Charles Perchard that rescued them from an even more perilous looking position. Perchard was also brilliant with the ball taking 4 for 14 as the Jersey cricket team miraculously managed to defend this paltry target, bowling out the Danes for 89 to secure a 5 run victory against the odds.
