Memorable Games In The Nepal T20 League
Eventual winners Lumbini All Stars reached the first ever final of the Nepal T20 League with a narrow victory over Janakpur Royals after surviving a late recovery. Batting first Indian national cricket team player Harmeet Singh was dismissed from the first ball of the match as they slipped to 32 for 4 in the 7th over. Ishan Pandey and Anil Sah rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 62, Pandey top scored with 38 but Lumbibi’s score 143 for 8 still looked a little short. However they started well with the ball reducing the Royals to 45 for 5, then 75 for 6. Afghanistan all rounder Samiullah Shinwari and Nepal international Parwan Sarraf almost turned proceedings in favour of the Royals taking a stunning 23 runs from the 19th over leaving just ten to win from the 20th over but Kishore Mahato delivered a superb final set of six balls only conceding three as Lumbini made the final which they would go on to win in another low scoring encounter against Biratnagar Super Kings in this Nepal T20 League match.
Far West United made the highest total of the first edition of the Nepal T20 League against Kathmandu Knights. The foundations for this high total were laid by the openers Hashmatullah Shahidi (73 from 57 balls) and Binod Bhandari (74 from 44) who added 157 for the first wicket. Karan KC launched 3 sixes in an 8 ball 22 not out to propel them to 197 for 4. This total was to prove way too many for the Kathmandu based franchise who fell short by 83 runs as they finished 114 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs.
