The Jamaica cricket team, officially known as the Jamaica Scorpions, represents the country of Jamaica in regional cricket competitions. They compete under the franchise name, Jamaica Scorpions, in the Cricket West Indies’ Professional Cricket League, which includes both the Regional Four Day Competition and the Regional Super50. Over the years, Jamaica has secured numerous regional titles, making them one of the most successful teams in West Indies cricket. In recent years Jamaica has become an up and coming international cricket team.
History of Jamaica Cricket Team
The history of the Jamaica cricket team dates back to 1895 when they played three matches against a touring side from England led by Slade Lucas. However, due to the geographical distance from other cricketing nations, Jamaica did not engage in regular first-class cricket until 1964. They participated in the first ever Shell Shield first-class competition and won it on their fourth attempt. Over the years, Jamaica has secured 12 regional first-class titles and 9 regional one-day titles.

The primary ground for the Jamaica cricket team is Sabina Park in Kingston, which has hosted over 140 first-class games since its inception in 1895. Apart from Sabina Park, regional and international matches have also been played at the Trelawny Stadium in Trelawny.
